The plot is rather standard: you pick a team to play for, either red or blue, and set off to kill your enemies and capture their controlling points while defending yours. Today it’s an ambitious project that promises to gain even more features when the final version eventually hits the web. However, the idea turned out to be quite catchy and soon the beta gained unexpectedly wide popularity all over the world. It was made intentionally clumsy and primitive, with simplistic graphics and block-headed bots for fun’s sake. As a matter of fact, the game was launched as a sort of experiment. Congratulations, you just exported your first map! You can now start up Ravenfield and try it out ingame via the custom maps browser.Basically, Ravenfield is something like Battlefield, just not that serious. The exporting process now starts, and after it completes you will get a Export Completed message. You will get a warning that we are working in the ExampleScene, but we can ignore this for now and click Ok. To export this level, click "Ravenfield Tools -> Map -> Export Open Scene as Map". Double click the ExampleScene file to open it in the editor. You can find the example scene inside the Unity Editor located in Scenes/ExampleScene.unity. We can make sure the tools work by exporting the example scene bundled with the tools. You can find this file in your steam folder at Steam/steamapps/common/Ravenfield. x86_64 file depending on your operating system).
In the window that opens, select your Ravenfield executable (.exe. Find the Ravenfield Tools in the Unity Editor menu bar, and click Ravenfield Tools -> Set Game Executable. With the loading done, we need to select the Ravenfield Executable to let the tools communicate with your installation of Ravenfield. Unity will now load in the Ravenfield Tools Pack project. In the project window, click Open and browse to your extracted RavenfieldToolsPack project (C:/UnityProjects/RavenfieldToolsPack) and click Choose Folder. Start Unity and make sure you're on the correct version (5.6.3p1). Make sure you extract ALL content from the RavenfieldToolsPack.zip file. After all software has been installed, download and extract the RavenfieldToolsPack.zip to somewhere on your computer (for example C:/UnityProjects/RavenfieldToolsPack"). With Unity installed, you can now optionally install Blender. If you are on Mac, make sure you check the Windows Build Tools. Start by downloading and installing Unity.
